Travel Essentials

For a more detailed guide to what products you will want to bring with you to make your journey more comfortable, check out our Travel Essentials buying guide. Here are some suggestions for starters.

Socks

Whether you're in a plane, car, or train, socks are a must. The A/C in planes can often make the temperature ridiculously freezing. You might be tempted to kick your shoes off, so be considerate of your neighbor and make sure you have a pair of socks handy. Plus, you'll be more comfortable crossing your legs with socks on than with shoes.

Travel Sized Toiletries

With new plane regulations, it's important to pack travel-sized toiletries (all liquids have to be able to fit inside a quart-sized plastic bag). These are helpful if you're not planning on staying in a hotel, or if you're just dying to sanitize your hands on the train. Toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap are only some of the items you can find travel-size.

Travel Guides

Unless the purpose of your trip is to be spontaneous and "go with the flow," bring a travel guide and get to know the place you're traveling to before you set foot in a completely, unknown place. Travel guides are often equipped with maps, best dining options, famous attractions, and quick phrases you can use if you're going to a non-English speaking country.

First-Aid Kit

You got a blister killing your foot and you're dying for a band-aid. Remember to bring a first-aid kit along with you in case you or whoever you're traveling with gets a cut or scrape that needs some quick relief and fixing up.

The Three Gadgets

In today's hi-tech and internet driven world, don't forget to bring a camera (photo  or video ) to record your trip and a music player (iPod ,mp3 player ) to keep yourself from being bored to death on a 13 hour long plane/car/train ride!

Luggage

Make sure to read our Luggage buying guide for further advice on what kind of luggage is suitable for your traveling transportation and the different types of luggage available (light, small, print patterns...).

Carry Ons

Most small luggage can be considered carry-ons. Backpacks, messenger bags, and small luggage on wheels all count, as long as they can fit in the overhead compartment in a plane or train.

Luggage Sets

Luggage sets are practical because you can get between 2 to 6 pieces for a cheaper price than if you were to buy each individually. Sets often come with a large suitcase and a carry-on.

Laptop Bags

You don't have to be a business man or woman to carry a laptop bag. If you want to watch a movie, listen to music, or even go online since certain airlines now offer wifi, bringing your laptop is a great idea! Make sure you protect your computer by a carrying it in a laptop bag, which can also serve as a travel bag.

Locks

Although locks are not allowed for plane flights, it might be worth it to keep one with you for the hotel to make sure nothing gets stolen. Luggage locks are available with combination or keys.
