Spring is all about refreshing, renewing, and rejuvenating your wardrobe and experimenting with new shapes, styles, and colors. Try to imagine how good it must feel for your poor, wilted flowers to bloom back to life, and incorporate that same energy and spirit into your clothes! Old styles fall away and new trends emerge; where enormously ruffled tops  once filled our closets, boyfriend shirts  remain. Yes, it's out with the old, in with the new, and Spring 2011 is chock full of fashion novelties and twists to kick the warm weather off right. Even if the temperature does dip below 40º from time to time.

Back to Basics

New season, new wardrobe, blah blah blah. All that stuff about new trends doesn't mean you shouldn't have some fashion basics on hand. Invest in a few well-made staple items that will work regardless of this year's go-to styles.

Style Trends

As far as fads go, this is a pretty diverse season: earthy bohemian styles, high seventies glamour, or punk chic can all be explored with the right accessories.

Throwback Throw Down

  • A ton of classic looks have returned this spring, with some seventies classics coming on the strongest. Look for jumpsuits ,wide leg pants , and hot pants .
  • At work, belted and tucked in styles are ideal.
  • You can embrace the edgier culture of yesteryear with modified seventies rocker  and punk  looks.

Minimalist Mama

Nautical

  • A spring/summer standard. Every year we break out our navy stripes  and white pants.
  • This year, wide stripes  in bright colors help break up monotony.
  • Want a nautical edge without the horizontal stripes? Try anchor patterned tops .
  • Don't be afraid to layer with this look.

Lounge Lizard

  • A style that's right out of the bedroom, this all about feeling loose and comfortable.
  • Experiment with silky, satiny fabrics, be it in skirts , pants, lace trim tops , or even robes .
  • Dresses  should similarly be flowing and long.
  • This is a good look to mix and match; you can wear billowing pants with a tighter crop top .

Must Have Items

Neutrals  remain essential to the season; they're the canvas prep you need to pull off some of this spring's more vibrant or extravagant styles.

Cape sleeves  and dolman tops  are part of this season's more relaxed fit styles. Roll necks  and tie-neck blouses  also work.

Get back some height without torturing your feet! This spring, platforms  are in; they feature wedge heels  and not too much of a teetering slope.

Flared jeans  are very seventies and they mimic the flow of the lounge look. Look for a high waistline and a medium-dark wash.

Once the warm weather hits, you won't want to be swimming in fabric. A pair of capris that ends just below the knee is classic and easy to throw on.

If you do feel floaty and light, a sheer skirt  is just what the fashion maven ordered! Long skirts should hit around the ankle or mid-calf, and will be see-through enough to see some leg.

Accessories

Glamour.com has the scoop on this season's most sought after accessories.

Obi Belts

Seventies glamor styles need not be shapeless; an obi belt  will add curve to those flowing styles.

Bangles

Bangles  are a a fun accessory worth holding on to; they always come back.

Tassels

Tassels are an extravagant detail that you can wear on a dress  or top, or use to jazz up your purse .

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are technically a summer accessory, but hey, spring has the occasional sunny day too. Look for oversize tinted glasses .
