Home Appliances Large Appliances Food Waste Disposers
Your life can be fairly simplified by having a heavy duty food waste disposer installed in your sink's plumbing system. To create less waste in the world you'll want a good garbage disposal or your own compost pile out back. Insinkerators or ISE disposers seem to be the lead in this department because of their space saving design and because it feels like you can send almost anything down the chute. You can grind up fruit rinds, chicken bones, clumps of food and more. ISE disposers are even safe for your septic tank because it'll liquefy the food so it'll be taken safely.
Installation
Installing an ISE disposal is actually fairly simple. You'll need a basket wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and maybe a small wrench, but other than that these garbage disposals are built for easy installation. The Evolution Excel Model actually has a QuickLock sink mount unique to its design that will be ideal if you are replacing an older model with this one. Primarily, you'll want to disconnect the dishwasher and electrical connections. Install the ISE mounting bracket after removing any of the older plumbing pieces that are connected to the drain. There are specific instructions that will come with the garbage disposal you purchase, but they promise to simplify the entire process. They might even include picture diagrams. That always helps.
