Home Appliances Air Conditioners and Fans Household Fans Pedestal Fans
When it's hot and the air needs moving, and not just at your feet, which is all your squat little floor fan can handle, pedestal fans can get up into the higher altitude regions and cool a room down remarkably well. If functionality is really what you're after, make sure it's an oscillating pedestal fan, because then it's like the fan can cover the entire spread of the room. There are decorative pedestal fans to consider for interior decoration purposes as well. But if cool air is really what you're after, pedestal fans and tower fans are where you should be looking.
Cleaning
You should clean your indoor pedestal fan about once a month to get rid of the dust and dirt that builds up. An outdoor pedestal fan should probably be cleaned every other week since it could be growing mold or collecting far more dirt than any indoor fan. A paint brush can be a good tool to clean off the fan blade guards once you've detached them because it'll shake loose any hanging or loose dust particles. You'll want to do this over a place that can get messy, of course. Then you'll want to wipe down the blades with a paper towel and an all purpose cleaner. Repeat this process with the actual fan blades getting them as clean as possible so they won't recirculate any old dirt. You can take a paper towel to the rest of the fan making it as dust-free as you would any other household item.
