Window Finials

Big ones, small ones, ones in the middle... it's up to you how you accent your hooks

DIY Nifty Window Finials

For a fun 70s string lamp look for your window treatment you can make at home:  # You want to blow a set of small balloons into 8 inch balls, you can try to make them match in size or not. The shape of your balloons will be the final shape of your finials, so be aware of that as you blow up the balloons. # Take white string, and tie the loose end of the spool to the knot on the balloon. # Then start wrapping the string in a criss-cross pattern around the balloon; keep the string taught enough that it doesn't slide off the balloon. You want to have about 4 even layers of thread around the balloon before you stop. Small holes are okay, but you want the balloon to be mostly covered.  # Cut the string from the spool now and tie it off at the balloon knot tail again.  # Work over newspaper and wear white glue; you want to completely cover and soak the string with the glue. At the end of this step you can add glitter to your finials if you feel so inclined. This would be fitting for a child's room in particular.  # Let these babies dry overnight by hanging them by their tails from a makeshift clothesline; put newspaper down in case they drip. # When dry, pop the internal balloon with a window rod to enter where the balloon tail was. Obviously, you can make the finials as large as you want. The larger they are, the easier they are to make and the bolder the statement you make.
