You just can't get enough of your gaming but you've been playing for hours, your eyes hurt, your vision is blurring, your thumbs ache, and you might be getting carpal tunnel. You know you really don't want to take a break but you should. Look at it this way: now you can spend that free time looking up accessories, cables, and adapters to make your experience all that much better when you return.
Cables
*HDMI: Do you want to experience PlayStation 3 in its full visual/audio potential? HDMI cables will provide the clarity in image and sound you want in order to fully immerse yourself. These cables are usually around 6 feet long and well covered to protect the wires from interference and fraying.
*AV Component: These support up to 1080p on HDTVs. It really doesn't get much better than that. Television originally interlaced images, meaning that it read the transmitted images as series of alternating lines that blink to form the image you see. These cables do not interlace but, rather, use progressive scan and will provide a clearer image.
*USB: These connect to accessories and other hardware. Got a camera, keyboard, or PSP you want to hook up?
*Power Cord: Sparta, your cat, ate through the power cable while you were playing Metal Gear. Before you lose your temper and take away his favorite toy and lock up the catnip, remember not to take it so personally. It's not his fault the cable looks fun to play with. Besides, buying a new power cord is simple and once you have it you can always play your way back to that part of the game.
*Ethernet: This is if you want to use the online features with your PS3 but don't have WiFi.
*Controller Charger: This connects to the SIXAXIS controller to allow it to charge for later wireless use.
Adapters
*PS2 Controller Adapter: If you own(ed) the PS2 and still have the controllers but want to save yourself money from buying several new controllers, you can pick up the adapter cable that will allow you to use the PS2 controller for the PS3. It's cheaper. It should be noted that it will not make it SIXAXIS compatible.
*Memory Card Adapters: Gone are the days of plastic 8MB cards. With the PS3 saving directly on the hardware, physical memory cards are pretty much extinct. However, you might still want to use those well earned saves from days past without having to start from scratch. This adapter should save you a few hours of your life.
*Cooling Adapters: These provide air and cooling to your PS3 so it doesn't get overheated stuffed away in your cabinet or shelf during use.
