Toby Keith
The patriotic heart of modern country music, Toby Keith is most famous for his song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American)", which was his impassioned response to the attack on 9/11. Whatever side of the political divide your views lie, there's no denying that it's a pretty damn good song and Keith was successful in rallying a country frightened and angry about the attacks in New York. That song permanently changed Keith's career and he became the biggest voice of the conservative country music scene, recording sharply satiric songs like "The Taliban Song" and getting into heavily publicized conflicts with embattled bluegrass songbirds The Dixie Chicks which eventually turned into country music's version of the Biggie/Tupac feud.
Toby Keith is a prolific entertainer, with twenty two number one singles to his name and thirteen top selling album. Because of his wide catalog of work, it can be difficult to figure out where to start collecting.
