Without that, well, we'd all be in the dark. For a while, at least.  * Even before Edison, the name Joseph Wilson Swan, now historically overshadowed, was synonymous with indoor lighting in homes and landmarks in England. It is even Swan's own home that has the record of being the first home ever lit by light bulbs. * Beginning in 1885, lamps to 795 million within six decades.
