Styles
Fish plates are a great way to decorate your walls and they also serve as tableware for serving fish. Fish plates used as tableware are ideal to serve fish in any form be it fish fillets, fried fish or barbecued fish.
Types
* Antique: A collector’s item and are used for decoration by hanging on the walls.
* Porcelain: Used to serve fish and can match your porcelain dinnerware.
* Pottery: Mostly used for decoration.
* Glass: Add a sophisticated touch to the dinner table place setting.
A Fish Palette
You can use your fish fork similar to dinner fork and knife, however there are slight variations. See below.
* Use the fish knife to separate the meat segments. Slip the blade into the fish at the break and slightly lift sideways to separate from skin.
* A fillet of fish is consumed from left to right, using the right hand side of the fish plate for bones.
* If a bones plate is provided, place it to the right of the fish plate, near the top.
* Never dip the lifted fish in sauce, but take some sauce with your knife and place it on the fish before you eat it.
