Death Metal

Death metal. Say it with me, boys and girls. Deeeeeeeeaaaaattthhhhh Meeeeeeeettttttaaaaallllllll... Death metal is probably the most popular heavy metal sub-genre. Known for its complex tempo and key changes, layered riffs, punishingly fast guitars, and deep, sonorous death growl vocals, death metal has received a huge resurgence in public interest after the death metal comedy show Metalocalypse premiered on Adult Swim, which reached a wide audience while staying true to the dark pleasures of death metal. Death metal bands exist in every country in the world, and most of the major metal acts operating today fall somewhere in the death metal category.  So grow your hair long, downtune your guitar, and cast your eyes to the cold diamond sky. It's your time to howl.

We Walk This Earth With Fire In Our Hands

I need to give you a disclaimer before we continue: metal music contains an almost infinite amount of subSatan theatricality of black metal. Death metal's origins are most often attributed to either Slayer's genreto Opeth, Napalm Death (a band so insanely technically skilled they actually recorded a 1.1 second song), Amon Amarth (one of my favorite bands ever), and a couple hundred thousand others. And, of course, if you want to have your taste in music mocked, listen to the Reverend Horton Heat song "Death Metal Guys." It'll get your blood temp up.
