Zesters and Reamers

If you have ever had someone bite down on a citrus seed at the dinner table, you should try using a easy grip handle.

Zesters

Zesters are the most efficient way to remove the aromatic peel from citrus without removing the bitter white pith that lies just beneath the surface. * A slightly rounded, or flat nutmeg grater can be used to zest citrus.   * A stainless steel zester will not absorb odors. * Zesters with a cushioned grip are comfortable and easy on your hand. * A microplane is easy to use at the stovetop.  It is long enough to help prevent scalding your hands.  It can also rest across the rim of a bowl for stability. * Miniature zesters come in sets, or individually. * Zesters are a good tool to add to your bar, or cocktail set. * Zesters are sometimes called peelers. * Lime zesters are also a good option.  * Palm zesters are safer for zesting smaller lemons, limes, or kumquats.

Reamers

Reamers are made to remove the juice from citrus.  Juicers, presses, and squeezers are all alternate forms of reamers. * Electric juicers are a good option when you need more than 1/4 cup of juice. * The hand held wooden reamer is a simple, yet efficient design.  It should always be hand washed. * If you do not want seeds or pulp, a straining reamer is your best bet. *ball tip are made to remove more of the juice. * You can still find and collect vintage reamers. * Glass reamers are non-porous and do not absorb odor. * Ceramic juicers or reamers come in many patterns.  * Most countertop presses are made to accommodate all sizes of citrus.  * Reamer attachments can be purchased as an accessory for stand mixers and food processors.
