Windshield Wiper Nozzles
One day you decided to finally clean off all those dead bugs and dirt off your windshield but when you pressed the button for fluid, nothing came out! Naturally you press it about ten times hoping the outcome will be different but alas, still no fluid, dry
windshield wiper nozzles. The nozzles are small devices that spray your wiper fluid. If you're not too car savvy, you may want to find someone who is, but if you feel you can tackle this automotive problem, then read on!
Troubleshooting the Problem
Before you're convinced that you need to replace the nozzles, make sure it's not something else that is causing your lack of fluid.
* Check to make sure there is plenty of
antifreeze if it is winter.
* You may have a leak in the
RTV silicone sealer.
* Next, listen to the pump while someone presses the fluid button to make sure it is working.
* If you hear nothing strange, disconnect the
hose from the pump and repeat this test with the hose pointing to the container.
* If there is a solid stream, repeat the test at the hose connection to the nozzle.
* If you don't get a solid stream or get a weak stream, then yes your wiper nozzles are probably clogged or damaged and need to be replaced.
* If you can't get new nozzles, try disconnecting them and soaking them in
vinegar overnight to dissolve any debris.
Nozzles
When it comes to buying a replacement nozzle, or any replacement part, it's always cheaper to buy the parts yourself. As long as you know the exact part you need, there are a lot of good online sites where you can get your parts for much less. Naturally it's free to install the parts yourself, but if you really know nothing about cars (or don't have any friends who know about cars), you're going to have to settle for paying a mechanic to replace the part. But at least you'll save on the replacement part! Make sure you know your car's year and model to ensure that your replacement part will fit. Believe it or not, you can bling out your nozzles with LED lights. Check out these brands for some above average models:
