One of West Virginia's most interesting traditions is their mascot. Instead of guy in a big plush costume, the mascot is simply the hairiest mountain man on campus, selected every year by the school's senior honorary. The winning contestant gets a custom leather suit and coonskin hat to wear to West Virginia sporting events. He must also grow a massive beard worthy of the Mountaineer name.
