You've been a gamer since the dawn of Pong. You've stomped Koopas and saved multiple princesses. you've proven you're a bad enough dude and a super fast hedgehog. You've killed zombies, nazis, and space pirates, all without breaking a sweat. It's the new generation of gaming. The graphics are crisp and clean, the games are more impressive than ever, and you've got to continue your adventures.
The decision is made. You've got to get a Playstation 3. Not only does it have everything for your gaming needs, but it's also a Blu-Ray player and you like being on top of modern technology. You'll need an optimal set up to get the best gaming experience.
Console System and Controllers
When picking up any console, there are usually a couple of options as far as memory, size, and even style goes. For a Playstation 3, it's no different. It's undergone plenty of changes and had many versions over the past couple of years.
* Recently the Playstation has gone through a makeover and is now the PS3 Slim. It comes in two different sizes, 120GB and 250 GB.
* The older, bigger version of the PS3 is still somewhat available. They have hard drive sizes of 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB.
* Systems tend to come packaged with only one controller if you buy the console on it's own. All Sony brand controllers are wireless and can be purchases in black, silver, blue, white and red.
* Bundle packs are a great way to get started. There's a 160GB Limited Edition Bundle that comes with Drake's Fortune. The bundle is for the older PS3 model.
* For the new PS3 slim there's a bundle pack that comes with two games, Infamous and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and comes with 2 controllers instead of one so you can dive right in with a buddy.
Wiring and Other Hardware Accessories
If you've got a fancy HD T.V. you are going to need the right set up with your cables to get your gaming on. There are also plenty of other accessories you can get for your PS3 to get the most out of it.
* HDMI cables are a necessity if you have an HD television. It's the only way to have your system come through in 720 or 1080p, whichever output you have.
* USB cables are perfect for charging up your PS3 controllers right through a connection to the system. Systems usually come with a cable, but if you have multiple controllers or just want a back up, it's good to pick up a couple extra.
* Wireless keyboards make typing messages back and forth to friends and opponents much easier than using the controller.
* Headsets are awesome when it comes to online multi-player, so you can talk to your teammates to set up strategies, or just to socialize.
