True Blood 
is a widely popular TV series on HBO based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris , also known as the Sookie Stackhouse Novels . The show, and books, are about the lives of humans and vampires who have recently "come out of the coffin." The series follows the life of a telepathic waitress, Sookie Stackhouse , in Bon Temps, Louisiana who falls for a vampire named Bill Compton .The show stars Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton), Sam Tremmell (Sam Merlotte ), Rutina Wesley (Tara Thorton ), Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse ), and Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman ).
Book Series
Like most good TV shows and films, this series came from the brain of Charlaine Harris and her novels. The novel is from the perspective of Sookie and, although we don't get to hear about as many side stories like in the show, the books do deal with Sookie's encounters with other supernatural beings: vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches, and even fairies. Each book is a new adventure and Sookie faces a new ordeal, usually one that ends up with her getting beaten up and being put in dangerous situations. Over the course of the series, Sookie delves deeper and deeper into the supernatural world. Harris has signed a contract to write at least 10 more books, including the latest book (due out in May).
TV Series
There are currently only two seasons, but Season Three will premiere this June on HBO and Season Four has already been confirmed. Each season has been based on the novels. Season One is based on the first book, "Dead Until Dark". Season Two is based on "Living Dead in Dallas" and so on. The series is a very loose interpretation and does not mimic the books verbatim. The main plots are generally the same, along with the love interests, but that is where it ends. The show digs deepers into the lives of the other characters which is usually not explored in the novels since they are told from Sookie's point of view.
Season 1
- Season 1 is currently out on both DVD and Blu-Ray .
- We are first introduced to the main characters of the series--Sookie, Bill, Jason, Tara, Sam, and Eric.
- The main plot centers around the murders of women and Sookie's brother Jason is the main suspect since he slept with all of them before their murder.
- Sookie and Bill begin to fall in love but that has many consequences as Sookie is drawn into a dark, malicious world.
- We also delve into the lives of Sookie's boss and friend Sam Merlotte as well as her best friend Tara Thorton.
Season 2
- Season 2 will be released later this year on DVD and Blu-Ray .
- This season splits into two main plot lines which will eventually cross paths for all the characters.
- The vampire sheriff of Area 9, a 2,000 year old vampire named Godric, has gone missing and Eric asks Sookie and Bill to travel to Dallas to find him.
- Meanwhile, back in Bon Temps, a mysterious woman named Maryann comes to town. Tara believes she is there to help her but we soon find out there is more to Maryann as chaos and destruction emerge in the town.
- As these two plots unfold, Jason is busy in Texas trying to find God and himself through a fanatical religious group bent on destroying vampires.

The success of the show has led to a huge following and tons of merchandise along with it. Make sure you grab a True Blood t-shirt and support your love of fine establishments like Fangtasia or Merlotte's ! Always keep Bill or Eric close to your heart with a necklace . Or how about rings ,bracelets , and earrings instead? Any real vampire will need to sustain himself with the official True Blood drink .The show gets its name from the synthetic blood the vampires drink, True Blood. Now you can drink blood too! Well, it's really soda but you can pretend it's real blood! Don't forget to put the bottle on a coaster . Make sure you pour that tasty True Blood into a cup ,mug ,beer stein , or pint glass . Make any wall vampire-friendly with a poster of your favorite characters.
Soundtrack
If you've seen the show, then you know how good the music for the opening credits is. Jace Everett's "Bad Things" is a steamy country song that will actually make you enjoy country music if you don't already. All the songs on the soundtrack were featured during the series and some artists include Lucinda Williams ,Ryan Adams ,The Watson Twins , and Allen Toussaint . Both the soundtrack and the original score are available to purchase. Once Season 2 is released on DVD, the soundtrack will most likely follow.
