Tropical Fish Care

You've tried freshwater fish and mastered it. You want to do something a little more exciting. Well, Crusoe, here is the information you need on tropical fish before you start up on your brightly colored adventure.

Be aware that there are freshwater tropical fish and saltwater tropical fish. Besides the species of fish and content of the water, the main difference is that saltwater fish are more delicate and require more vigilance in general.

Tropical fish are like other fish, except they need more space, heat food, ambiance and expertise. But they are much more beautiful.

The Quarantine Tank

In addition to everything you need in the basic tanks, you need to give tropical fish more care in acclimating them into the tank. For this, we have a quarantine tank.

Quarantine Tank

  • A separate tank with its own filter, heater test kit and net  as well as a pump  that aerate the water further.
  • Freshwater fish could benefit from a quarantine tank whereas saltwater fish require them.
  • You're going to be quarantining these fish for a couple of weeks before introducing them to their new, permanent homes. Read up on what you're doing beforehand.
  • Also very important for isolating fish that get sick.
