Track and Field

Track and field is one of the most varied sports in the world. With events ranging from 100 meter hurdles to pole vault, the opportunities seem to be endless. So where to start the buying process? First decide which events you need to purchase items for. We've broken it down into specialties and general running goods to make browsing easy. In general, every athlete needs a good pair of standard running shoes  for practice and some sweats  to warm up in. Outside of that things get a little more specific.

 

Running

For athletes who participate in any of the running or hurdle events, these are pretty standard items. Make sure you don't skimp on athletic gear considering it can reduce injuries and prevent annoying ailments like shin splints.

Track Spikes

Practice Shoes

  • Adidas : Adidas makes a wide variety of shoes in any size.
  • Nike : Nike running shoes are highly specialized with options for runners who have issues with shin splints or a need for ankle support.
  • Puma : Puma shoes tend to be less supportive, but incredibly lightweight for sprinting!

Apparel

  • Tank Tops : In hot weather, you'll want to keep your arms cool with a tank top.
  • Sports Bra : For women, invest in a good sports bra with breathable material and a comfortable fit.
  • Shorts : Find a pair of lightweight shorts that don't pinch too much at the waist.

Other Events

Pole Vault

  • Your pole  is your most valuable asset when pole vaulting. Make sure to pick one that is weight appropriate.

Javelin

  • Grab the right size and weight javelin  for your competition.

Throwing

  • Make sure you have shot puts  handy for practice and meets.
