Trains and Railway Sets Train Tracks
So your goal is to make the world's most incredible train layout ever and you want to have all sorts of turns,
track fluid.
Types of Track
Straight Track
* Basic track for layout. Use these based on how long you want your track to extend.
Curved Track
* For use in turns. They attack to any other track but are probably more commonly attached to straight track.
* They come in different angles for deep and shallow turns.
Crossing Track
* You might want to put some sort of signals around these pieces and time your trains properly so they don't crash.
* The degree of the angles vary. They're available in
90.
Left Hand Turn Out
* These are for branching the tracks off into separate circles and compartments.
* Use these along with switches if you want to have more control.
Bridge Kits
* If you want to add detail to your layout, you can change the terrain. If there is a gap in the flooring beneath the tracks use
bridge accessories and kits to connect one end to another.
* Make sure that the bridge can withstand the weight of the trains with proper support.
Track Bumpers
* This is in case your track is not complete at one end.
* You don't want your
train to crash or fly off the track. Add the bumper so it has something to block it.
Switching Tracks
*
Automated switches make it easy to change what track your train will follow.
* There's no mess involved. You won't miss your cue if a lot is going on.
* You can often control these using the
transformer.
Turntable
* This is reminiscent of
Thomas the Tank Engine.
* This is for one of those really complex layouts with a lot of trains and a lot of connecting tracks.
* This is a good way to get the trains in exactly the direction you want them to face.
Flexible Tracks
* These tracks offer exactly what the title says: flexibility. If you're having trouble getting pieces of track to fit around a strange corner this may be the way to go.
Short Tracks/ Extension Pieces
* These pieces come in a series of small sizes and often are sold in packs.
* They are useful in balancing out sides of a layout where you need things to be even.
