Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Todd McFarlane is a popular cartoonist, writer, and toy designer. He is best known for his work in

McFarlane's love of comic books began when he was in high school and he became a fan of comic book artists like John Byrne, George Pérez, Michael Golden, and baseball, McFarlane, who had studied graphic arts in college, submitted his work to comic book editors in hopes of entering into a career as an artist. After hundreds of rejections, he finally got an offer from Marvel/Epic Comics to pencil "Scorpio Rose", a backup story to the comic book ''Coyote''.
As his foray into the world of comics continued, he worked on many projects with both
Spawn'' film opened in August of 1997 and another is currently rumored to be in the works.
The success of ''Spawn'' continued to the small screen. In May 1997, with McFarlane as executive producer, the animated series
''Soul Calibur II''.

Disappointed by the unwillingness of toy companies to grant him creative control over any
Spawn action figures have since become some of the most highly sought after toys on the market.
McFarlane Toys is now one of the largest toy manufacturers in the country and produces action figures from all genres, including film, music, gaming, and sports.
Musical Involvement
Delving into the world of music, McFarlane has helped create award-winning music videos for acts such as Korn and Pearl Jam. He is also an accomplished album cover artist.
