The Three Stooges were an American Vaudeville comedy act famous for their physical farce, slapstick comedy, ludicrous short films, and classic feature length comedies. The Three Stooges are easily recognizable by their look, comedic style and because of their many beloved films. The group was originally founded by Moe Howard, his brother Shemp Howard, and their closest friend Larry Fine. Moe and Larry stayed committed to the act the entire time, but due to health and other life circumstances Shemp was unable to perform with the group during certain periods. Moe and Shemp's brother, Curly, stepped in to replaced Shemp after he became ill and went on to be just as recognizable and well known (if not more) than his brother as a member of The There Stooges. Ironically Shemp came back to replace Curly after he also got sick and unfortunately passed away at age 48. The Stooges had a feature film comeback in the 1950s and introduced Curly-Joe to the trio to help with their films. Arguably one of the funniest groups of people in the world, The Three Stooges dedicated their lives and careers to making people laugh and simply could not have been more successful.
Popular Three Stooges Feature Films
'''''Have Rocket Will Travel''''' Joe and follows them as they play three janitors working at a space center who accidentally get sent off to Venus. During the film, they encounter alien computers, talking unicorns, enormous tarantulas and evil three stooge twins. Although made after the peak in their career, the laugh out loud film is one of their best and was incredibly well received by the public and the critics.
'''''The Three Stooges Meet Hercules''''' Joe. in This film, the Stooges work at a drug store in Ithaca, New York and befriend a man who is in the process of making a time machine. Just as outlandish and physically hysterical as the rest of their work, this film was their most successful in the box office and is still highly regarded among Three Stooge fans as one of their best comedic films.
'''''Time Out For Rhythm''''' Joe, I know. I'm confused by it too) performing some of their most famous sketches and dance routines, like the "Maharaja" sketch for example, and is now considered to be one of the classic Stooges films even though it was not originally intented to be.
Popular Three Stooges Sketches
Between the years of 1934 and 1959, the Three Stooges released 190 slap stick short films, many of which made them more famous than any of their feature films. Some examples of their short films include ''Oily to Bed: Oily to Rise, The Yoke's On Me, Boobs in Arms, Three Missing Links, A Song of Six Pants,'' and ''Brideless Groom''. All of these short films were filled with ridiculous mishaps and physical comedy performances only the Three Stooges would be able to pull off. Now sold primarily in Three Stooges collection DVD, these hysterical shorts depict the Three Stooges at their best.
