Three sisters born into a literary family in the early 19th century are still known today for the classic novels and poetry they completed"Currer Bell" (Charlotte), "Ellis Bell" (Emily) and "Acton Bell" (Anne). But in 1847, Jane Eyre and Agnes Grey were published, and their success and popularity grew.
Anne Brontë's writing style is often characterized by her need to illustrate the importance of morals and her experience being a governess. She was influenced by Emily's poetry is often provocative with themes of solitude and internal reflection. While the Brontë family encouraged the sisters to exercise their imaginations as children, their own individual personalities began to manifest in their separate works around 1831.
