Practice

With just about any sport, you're going to want to practice at home. Presumably you've picked up your own set of equipment for practice, so depending on your preference, pick up a basketball hoop goal net  or pitching machine

Body Protection

Consider jock straps cups chest pads elbow pads knee pads and most importantly, helmets Don't underestimate the importance of protecting your body, whether you're just practicing or playing the real game.

Hydration

Always hydrate! Even if you don't feel like you are sweating a lot, chances are you are still losing water. Always carry a sports water bottle  with you to all games; one that you can fill and refill is even better.
