Middle East. Through this diversity, Shakira celebrates her own multicultural background (her mother is Colombian and her father is Lebanese), and has created a large, international fan base.
The Beginnings
Shakira had a very early start, releasing two records, ''Magia'' (1990) and ''Peligro'' (1993), before she was even out of her teens. Though the young singer was not pleased with the quality of production, her singles did grant her moderate fame in Colombia. Nonetheless, they did not do especially well commercially, and Shakira decided to take a several year break from recording to concentrate on her studies. These albums are now no longer in circulation and are not considered to be official releases.
She returned to the studio in 1995 to record ''Sale el Sol'' in late 2010; and promoting her newest CDs on her Sun Comes Out tour.
