It's not just the kids that need to get ready to go back to school, it's the teachers too! Whether you are setting up your teaching, so make sure to give yourself a couple of weeks to prepare before the fall season begins.
Elementary School
Learning is still a very new and exciting experience for younger kids, so make sure you have fun ones, around also can't hurt. Kids sometimes forget to come prepared.
Junior and Senior High
When teaching older kids, the room is going to be decorated a bit differently. Rather than lots of flashy colors and decorations, you may want to go for more subdued items that are educational but will appeal to an older group. While you don't need to go overboard, keep in mind that it is important to spruce up your room a bitthis promotes mental stimulation and may help to keep kids focused.
Tips
* When stocking up your classroom, don't forget to bring in a few personal items for yourself: marking with your red pen more comfortable for you.
* When picking out your daily wardrobe, think of the fine line between business and casual: you want to be comfortable, but not overly casual. dark wash jeans all help to make a good impression, and they feel good, too.
* Arranging desks can be tricky, so you may need to try a few different designs before getting it right. If you mostly teach in the middle of the classroom, you may want to arrange all of the desks around you in a circle. If you tend to teach in front, arrange rows in a staggered formation so that your students can see you. As for your desk, placing it right in the middle of the floor may get in your way, so you might want to put it off to the side of the room.
* When decorating your room, remember you may want to change it a few times a year according to the seasons or your lesson plan. When stocking up on banners and other decorations, keep this in mind so you have everything ready when you choose to redecorate.
* Don't forget the prizes for doing well. Stock up on some age appropriate learning motivators.
* Patience is a virtue, but it wears thin as summer approaches. If your classroom gets too hot, use a gold finishes.
Storage
No matter what subject you are teaching, having somewhere to store files or other supplies is definitely important. See a couple of ideas below.

The sight of a substitute teacher will make any student's smile wider than the Joker's. Stepping into a classroom that isn't your own is intimidating. You don't know where anything is located, and worst of all, you will have 20-something pairs of eyes staring blankly at you. Don't fret. Win over the students while keeping your cool with a few supplies guaranteed to make the transition much easier.
* Every classroom should have its own colored chalk. Either way, you won't have to bother another teacher in search of this precious writing aid.
* Most teachers leave a seating chart for their substitute counterparts, but stopping every few minutes to look at names is annoying and distracting. Bring index cards for the students to write their names on and properly display.
* Let's face it. Substitute teachers are not very respected by students. Make sure you have educational games on hand in case students become bored or rowdy.
* If you're the primary teacher, you will have to leave instructions for the incoming substitute. Avoid misLIST'>lists, and instructions.
