Scented candles are a great way to fill your home with warm, pleasant aroma. Not only do they smell great, but they also provide a romantic ambiance to your home. Conventional scented candles are made with paraffin wax because it is colorless and odorless, ensuring there is no "smoky" nature. Beeswax can be used as a base of its own or added to the paraffin to add a subtle warmth to the aroma. Soy wax and other vegetable oils are becoming more popular as a way to avoid the sooty side effects of paraffin wax candles
Tips
* The wick should be cut to 1/4 inch before burning. This prevents black smoke and ensures a good scent throw.
* Do not place scented candles in a drafty area or the candle will flicker and smoke. This can also cause an uneven burn.
* It is important to give a new candle a "memory burn". This is a primary burn for 1 hour for every inch of the candle's diameter. This guarantees that the candle creates a proper wax pool and the scent has a good throw.
