Here is a simple, six step guide to installing a towel stand. # Location is important.  You want your towels to be within arms reach of the shower or bathtub.  # 48 inches above the floor is considered the standard height of towel racks. # Try to find a wall stud for at least one end of the towel rack.  Unfortunately, most studs are spaced too far apart for both ends of a towel rack. # Put masking tape on approximate location the towel bar ends will sit.  Hold the bar up to the wall with a level and mark the exact location on the masking tape where you will drill into the wall. # Install the wall fastener into the wall, then mount the hardware onto the wall and place the ends of the towel bar over the hardware. # Attach the towel bar to the mounting hardware using the screws included with the towel bar.
