Whether your dogs are barkin' or you've got some ruddy layers of dead skin on your feet, a foot soak can meet your needs. You'd be doing everyone a favor if you starting scrubbing your feet with salt once a week. Aching feet can be soothed by increasing circulation to the hurting area, which is where a good massage comes in. But in place of that, putting your feet in a warm bath soak can accomplish the same relaxation while moisturizing skin that rarely gets the star treatment. It's up to you whether you want to slough off dead skin with an exfoliating foot salt or experience some aromatherapy with an essential oil foot soak.
Homemade Foot Soak
For a foaming foot soak that smells lovely, softens feet, and nurtures your abused foot skin follow these directions. Mix a couple tablespoons of raw honey with a tablespoon of liquid soap, something like Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap would be a refreshing choice. Then add in a teaspoon of vanilla extract and finally two tablespoons of sweet almond oil. Leave your feet wrapped in towels with this lather on them for about 10 minutes before dipping them in a waiting heated foot bath.
