Rocking Chairs Buying Guide

You don't have to crochet  and be over 70 years old to sit in a rocking chair  anymore. They can be fun for everyone and come in some modern and beautiful designs. There are lots of options, so how will you decide which chair is perfect for you? First you've got to know all of your options and, of course, sit in a few different models. You've got to know that your chair is comfortable and feels good before purchasing it, so don't leave out this important part!

Materials

  • Bamboo : A bamboo rocking chair can certainly be beautiful and exquisite, but may serve more as a work of art than a piece for comfort. Extra soft cushions underneath can make it more comfortable for the daily user.
  • Leather : Typically these chairs are combined with some type of wood so that the back and seat upholstery are made of leather and the bottom is wooden. Leather may be a little more difficult to take care of and may wear out quickly, so make sure you are going for high quality.
  • Metal : These have the advantage of being sturdier than most other styles, however they may not allow for much comfort and adjustment. Because of their heaviness and durability, they are typically used for outdoors.
  • Plastic : These are more modern rockers that can be designed to ergonomically fit your back; they are suitable for outdoor and indoor use.
  • Wicker : Wicker chairs consist of thatched material that allows ventilation and flexibility for the sitter. These chairs are designed to hold up in both indoor and outdoor conditions and come at a cheaper price than your standard wooden chairs.
  • Wooden : These rocking chairs can be made out of many different varieties of wood. Cedar, elm, oak and cherry wood are just a few of the varieties that can be used to make your chair. If design is your main goal in picking out a chair, these will typically feature the prettiest patterns.
  • Upholstery : The cushions on rocking chairs can be designed flat or puffy and made out of polyester, cotton or foam. They can grip to stay put on your chair and some even have a spill guard feature.
