It's important to pick the right kind of pet food for any new four-legged, finned, webbed, or furry addition to your family. You might have to go through a bit of trial and error to see what your pet likes and what sits well with him or her. This is more true for cats and dogs than perhaps for fish or rodents. Pet food is usually organized by the stage of development your pet is in (puppy versus adult dog, for example) as well as, clearly, by the type of animal you own (I don't think fluffy would enjoy the bird seed you give to Petie!).
Pet Food Quality
When selecting dog and cat food, always look at the label to make sure you can recognize most of the ingredients. More expensive brands or heavily advertised foods can oftentimes be misleading: the pricier is sometimes not the better choice. Think of how you shop for people food. You hopefully are paying attention to how much processed food you're eating compared to more natural products. It's the same for dog and cat food: the fewer weird ingredients, the more likely your animal is getting a nutritious meal and will have an easier time digesting the food.
