Paula Deen

Born on January 19, 1947, Paula Deen is a chef, restaurateur, and one of the most recognizable cooking personalities to emerge from the roster of roots and love of cooking. She eventually grew strong enough to leave her home and take a job as a bank teller in order care for her two young sons, Jamie and Bobby. In the late 1980's, Deen moved to Savannah, Georgia, divorced her husband and began running a catering service out of the kitchen of a nearby Best Western hotel. Naming her business "The Bag Lady" after the brown bags her sons Jamie and Bobby delivered the meals in, her familypublished her first cookbook, ''The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cooking'', which was an instant success. In 1999 a mutual friend introduced Deen to Gordon Elliot, a wellDesserts'>desserts featuring her iconic pies.
