Panasonic D-Snap SD Series
These little point-and-shoot digital cameras are compact, lightweight, and perfect for a general snapshot camera that you can take anywhere since they all weigh under half a pound. They have a unique pop out LCD screen that even makes photography fun for kids. While they are a cool device, they are only made of plastic, thus they aren't the most durable cameras out there. Plus, the image quality that they produce is not really up to par with the other snapshot cameras out there that are slightly bigger. If you would like to learn more about what to look for when buying a digital camera, please see the buying guide. Or read on below to find out more about the different models in the D-snap series. Note that the prices listed are estimates and are not always the lowest street price available.

- $250 comes in blue, orange, or silver.
- This 9mm wide, 2 megapixel still shot camera does more than just take pictures. You can use it to do voice recordings, listen to MP3, WMA, and AAC music files, as well as record JPEG movie clips (60 seconds max).
- The 1.5" flip screen lets you see you and your friends if you want to take self portraits. Keep in mind that it does not have an optical viewfinder, so this is the only way to see what you are shooting.
- The one drawback to this camera is that it doesn't have an optical zoom. However, it does have up to 4x digital zoom. Unfortunately, this type of zoom does not produce high enough quality images to enlarge such photos with the same level of resolution.
- It does have a night mode, plus 5 white balance settings as well as a built-in flash.

- $300 comes in silver.
- This camera is designed slightly different. Basically it looks like a little square. The 2" LCD screen pops up like a laptop screen would, yet it's light enough to carry around in a pocket.
- The major drawbacks with this little camera are that it offers a max 2 megapixel resolution, 2x digital zoom, and few image quality compensators.
- There is a night mode however.
- It records sound and it lets you play MP3s or AAC files. You can also record MPEG4 video.

- $1000
- Comes in silver.
- Not just a digital camera, but rather, a digital video recorder too.
- It offers MPEG2 or MPEG4 recording capability, as well as video playback (meaning that you can watch anything from your TV or VCR that you can transfer to the SD memory card. Of course, you can record video images also, and later on you can record them to a DVD.
- Plus, it has an impressive 25x digital zoom, and runs on a 10 x optical zoom.
- The resolution for still shots is no match though for a conventional camera.
- The twist and flip, multi-angle 2.5" LCD monitor allows for maximum comfort when watching or using it to take pictures.
- Basically, I'd call this fun in the palm of your hand.
