If you're having trouble conceiving a baby, you can buy saliva tests as well.
Important Info
Here is some helpful information about how ovulation monitors work and tips for using them properly.
* These monitors detect the luteinizing hormone (LH) which is present in your urine 24-48 hours before you ovulate.
* A surge of LH triggers ovulation and this is when you are most fertile.
* Read your kit's instructions carefully to determine the proper time to start your testing and the time of day.
* Try to take the test at the same time every day.
* If you get a positive result, you should have intercourse the three days immediately after the results.
* It is ''not'' recommended that you use these kits as a means of contraceptive.
Fertility monitor kits are a bit different from getting a simple ovulation kit. These kits actually use a monitor that will display your most fertile days. They will also tell you how fertile you are every day. Some packages will come with a three month supply of test strips. Just be aware if the package you are buying comes with the monitor or if it is sold separately. These kits are much more expensive, usually around $100 for the monitor alone. But you only need to buy a monitor once and can buy strips separately.

Basal thermometers work similar to a normal thermometer except they are much more accurate and can measure the most minute temperature shift. Your body temperature will rise slightly when you are ovulating. They are very cheap, around $10.
