Ouija Boards

By User:AllieCashel @timeAndDate(1276185968) You want to talk to dead people. Not see them like that kid from the Sixth Sense, just talk to them. Well, technically since the invention of the Ouija Board in the late nineteenth century, you have been able to do just that, communicate with spirits via a talking board. That's what they've all been saying anyway, and you'll never really know until you try it. So, once you've overcome your fear of demonic possession or embraced the challenge of your disbelief, sit down in a dark room with some friends and give the Ouija board a try.

What is it?

The Ouija Board is nothing more than a flat board (normally made with normal game board material) marked with letters, numbers, and other symbols. The supposed spirit uses a planchette (a small heart shaped piece of wood or plastic) or a movable indicator to spell out messages to you during your seance. For some, the simplicity of the board enables them to believe it and for others, it furthers their disbelief. Some disbelievers think that the user subconsciously or consciously pushes the planchette around the board while others always swear there is a spirit present in the room. Are you a Ouija Board believer?

Ouija Board Tips

* Don't use the Ouija Board alone. Maybe it has something to do with strength in numbers or energy, or maybe it has something to do with keeping you from going crazy. Regardless of why, regular Ouija Board users advice you do play with at least one other person. * Elect a speaker before you start using the board. This will prevent confusion and keep everyone focused. * Once you've all relaxed, prepared, and placed your fingers lightly on the planchette, have your speaker start talking to the board. Most people repeat the question "Ouija, are you there?" until they feel or notice movement under their fingertips.  * Respect the dead. Once you have contact, ask them some questions about themselves before you get to yourself. "Where are you from?" will instruct the spirit to point to the sun or the moon, telling you if they're a good or bad spirit (sun means good and moon means bad). That's probably a good one to ask. * Always say goodbye when you're finished using the board. Whenever you feel its time to end your chat, say goodbye to the board and wait for the planchette to point to the "Goodbye" mark printed on the board. Some people believe that without this step, the spirit can remain connected to you or to this world, which is certainly not ideal.
