A networking print server is an important tool for any business, it will allow you to organize printing tasks incoming from a variety of network nodes. Even if your business has only a small network a print server will accept multiple print commands issued simultaneously, it will be able to prioritize the commands, queue the lower priority ones, and work away at printing autonomously, while your employees stay at their desks. This is especially important for businesses with high printing demands, such as businesses that print their own
barcodes, or other inventory related documentation.
When talking about
networking print servers, we may mean one of two things:
* A
printing protocol software installed to manage multiple shared printers.
* A dedicated network device with multiple outgoing connections for printers (USB, or serial).
** Print server devices usually have multiple protocol software installed, and are able to send information out to a variety of printing devices. In effect, they take print commands, choose a printer to execute them, convert the command to something understood by that printer, then send the command out.
** Print server devices are available as integrated features of network
routers.
** Like any network device, print servers are available
wireless.
These devices are very simple, comparatively, and all you will require besides the device (or software) itself is enough
network printers.
