Mike Nichols

Mike Nichols is a celebrated and very productive director of stage and screen. Since the 1960's, he has worked with some of the biggest actors and film makers in the business. He actual began his career in comedy, performing with a comedy team on television, radio, and night clubs.  Nichols eventually moved on to theater where he began directing legendary contemporary playwrights, including '' Barefoot in the Park'' (1962), ''The Odd Couple'' (1965), ''Uncle Vanya'' (1973), ''Annie'' (1977), ''Whoopi Goldberg'' (1988), ''Death and the Maiden'' (1992), ''The Seagull'' (2001), and ''Spamalot'' (2005). In June 2010, he was awarded the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award.

Film Career

Throughout his professional career, he has continuously shifted between theater and movies. His directing profession started off on high note and has not come down, starting with his first feature, ''Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'', which was nominated for a whopping 13 Academy Awards. Two of his films were also TV movies for HBOpieces he has done over the decades.
