Men's Jewelry Storage and Care

Fortunately for you, storing and caring for men's jewelry is really easy compared to women's jewelry. You don't have to worry about pearls, for starters, and most men's jewelry is relatively simple. Men also tend to have much less jewelry in general, so storing it is less complicated. Here are your basic options.

Organizer Tray

The easiest way to keep your stuff together and easily accessible is an organizer tray If you don't wear much jewelry besides a watch, a simple tray is a good way to keep everything in one place. If you have a few pieces of jewelry, you might want to look into a simple organizer tray. These usually have a cushy interior to protect any gemstones (like your cuff links) and keep everything neatly organized.

One of the advantages of organizer trays is that they are often modular and stackable so you can configure your arrangement exactly the way you need it. Slim trays can also easily hide in a drawer to keep everything out of sight.

Valet

No, not the guy who parks your car at nice restaurants -- a valet  is a case or compartmentalized tray that holds your stuff. It can hold your jewelry, but it's also good at other things like cell phones, wallets, change, and all those other things that women keep in their purses. Unlike a simple organizer tray, a valet usually has a lid to protect your things when you aren't around; some of them can be closed and locked  for travel or security reasons.

A valet is a good choice for a man who has a few quality pieces in his collection. They are also great for jet-setting men since they are often travel-ready. Some men might find them to be too much, especially younger men who haven't amassed a collection of fine jewelry yet.

Jewelry/Watch Box

When you hear the word jewelry box, you might think of something pink with a cute little ballerina on top. Fortunately, there are other choices too, some designed specifically with men in mind! Generally, a jewelry box  is larger than a valet and has designated areas for each kind of jewelry rather than just a few open areas.

One option is a unisex, wood jewelry box Grown-up women don't like those cutesy boxes either, so there are plenty of elegant choices on the market. You might find, however, that boxes designed for women's jewelry are not large enough to accomodate your collection.

The other option is a jewelry box  made specifically for men. These will often have fewer small compartments and more long narrow ones. They also tend to have at least two watch cushions; some expensive models have watch winders  for your self-winding watches! If watches are your thing but you don't really wear anything else, you might opt for a watch box ; they come sized to hold four to sixteen watches.
