Lollipops Buying Guide

Lollipops  are the long lasting candy that has been appealing to people for decades. The word "lolly pop" actually dates back to 1784, and it initially referred to soft candy. The lollipop as we know it today was first referred to in the 1920s, and since then has included a number of varieties--from jalapeno flavored lollies  to sugar free pops From fun colors and flavors to enormous, larger than life suckers, the options are endless.

The Basics

Despite all of the crazy lollipop variations out there, there's nothing wrong with keeping a few of the staples on hand. 

Dum Dums 

Ranging from Root Beer to Cream Soda, there's a total of 16 flavors to choose from when buying these tiny treats.

Rock Candy 

Comprised of multiple sugar crystals, rock candy is a long beloved treat that can name its origins as early as the 9th century. 

Jelly Lollipops 

Jelly lollipops have a gummy texture and can be molded into just about any shape. They come in lots of decorative styles and often feature intricate designs.

Blow Pops 

Blow pops come in all kinds of tart and sweet flavors, and once you've bitten into the center, there's a piece of gum waiting for you!

Tootsie Roll Pops 

How many licks does it take to get to the center? No doubt you've tried to figure it out on many occasions, but the delicious taste will keep you coming back for more.

A Little Something Extra

Not all lollipops are equal.  Some of them are made with unique flavors and have varying designs.

Chocolate Lollipops 

Whether it's white chocolate  or dark chocolate these lollipops make great party favors and are easy to make and personalize.

Caramel Apple Pops 

  These pops have a layer of caramel coating over an apple lollipop. Yum!

Chupa Chups 

This candy features extra sweet flavors such as banana pudding and coffee, and believe it or not, the lollipop logo was actually designed by Salvador Dali

Sugar Daddy Lollipops 

Think a giant hunk of caramel on a stick, and you have your Sugar Daddy lollipop.

Swirl Pops 

These large lollipops come on a giant wooden stick and are often sold at gourmet candy stores or theme parks. Get a circular or tall twister pop.

Work for Your Candy

These lollies have a little something extra that you get just for purchasing them.

Push Pops 

This lollipop comes in a fun case complete with cap that so you can eat a little now and save some for later. Whenever you run out, simply push from the bottom to get more.

Ring Pops 

Sport your jewels and candy all in one right on your finger! Pick your favorite flavor and place it on your hand for a delicious gem.

Spin Pops 

These are interactive pops that usually feature some kind of toy in addition to candy. Best of all, when you are finished with your spinning fun, you have a collector's item.

Whistle Pops 

This lollipop is an actual whistle that's made out of candy. It can still be bought at various stores online to provide you with a sweet musical instrument.

Baby Bottle Lollipops 

These feature a lollipop in the shape of a baby bottle top that can be unscrewed and dipped into sour candy in the bottle.

Strange Suckers

These lollies are truly unique and not for the faint of heart.

Scorpion Lollipops 

These are flavored lollipops with an actual dead scorpion inside. Get through the outside and experience the chewy insect inside!

Chili Pepper Lollipops 

Can you handle the spice? This lolly has a real chili pepper in its center.  

Tabasco Lollipops 

Get a real kick with these lollipops designed with heat in mind.

Maple Bacon Lollipops 

It's like breakfast on a stick! These lollipops contain chunks of cured bacon to give it that sweet, meaty flavor.
