Anniversary bands are a way to honor the commitment you have already made and uphold it as lavishly as the day you got engaged. There is not clear etiquette on which anniversary makes for the right time for a new bandthat is up to you to decide. Typically, you'll want to find one that goes well with your wedding set: for example, if you both wear white gold, stay consistent and buy something similar. Anniversary bands also can contain diamonds but they should remain fairly simple as not to distract from your wedding rings.
Where to Wear
There are a few different ways to wear an anniversary ring. If you're getting a small enough band, you can wear this new ring beneath your engagement ring, which goes beneath your wedding ring. That's why anniversary rings are more square in structure, they're meant for the stacking. Of course, you can always wear your anniversary ring on your right hand. This is a good idea if you're going to deviate from your wedding ring set in terms of stones, metals, or if you're going to get another largely cut diamond.
