Ignition Starter Switches

You know that little key hole in your car by the steering wheel? Yes, that one. That is the Star Wars lightsaber keychain, turn it on and stick it in the ignition and drive off into the sunset (or two if you live on Tatooine).

New Modifications

The ignition starter switch does a lot more than start the ignition system. Cars nowadays have computer systems in their combination key and battery that will prevent car battery drainage. Another new feature that is growing in popularity is the replacement of the traditional car key. These new keys don't need to be inserted to start the car. They have sensors in them that the car can read when it's close. For these keys, your ignition starter is just a pushSystem'>Volvo. Sometimes they are called "keyless" remote.

My Car Won't Start

* Most ironic reason a car won't start: You can't actually turn the key. Why does this happen? Try turning your steering lock could be active or stuck and was trying to prevent any theft. * It is suggested to check the car fuses and battery first, however, if you're still having trouble check the ignition switch. Turn the key without starting the car. Are there any flashing lights on your dashboard? If not, the switch is bad and needs to be replaced. * If there is a blinking light, check the lights. Did they dim? If they did not dim, the switch is bad. * You may need to replace or troubleshoot the key tumbler. The key tumbler has a little pin hole underneath. If you pick at it and switch it to mode "II" your car should be fine. If it doesn't fix the problem it's just broken. * If the car still won't start it's time to go deeper into your ignition system. Check the coil and distributor and lastly the spark plugs.
