Ian McEwan

Los Angeles Times Book Prize award, and the National Book Critics' Circle Fiction award.  McEwan spent most of his childhood in creative writing. His writing isn't the simplest to read, but McEwan knows how to involve just the right amount of detail to get deep inside a character's world. You get to know the protagonists more through their actions than through a series of thoughts. Since McEwan grew up as somewhat of an "army brat," it is  probably reasonable to speculate that this experience was some inspiration for his most famous work, ''Atonement''. ''Atonement'' was published in 2001, and since has garnered McEwan the most awards during his career for a single work. The novel was adapted into a Academy Awards. His most recent novel, ''Solar'', was released in March of 2010, and resembles McEwan's earlier writing style.
