How to Hook Your Computer up to Your TV

Sometimes watching things on the flatscreen on your wall. Whatever the reason is, you need to hook your computer up to your television and you need to do it fast! It's a lot easier than it sounds. It's all about knowing how your computer and television input/outputs work and getting the right cables. Before you know it, you'll be watching your uploaded family vacation in HD in no time.

Initial Hookup

* '''Check your television's input connection'''. Since your computer is going IN to your television, the TV input connections are important here. You'll recognize them because behind your T.V. it will say "input" above or below the open port (where the cable gets plugged into). The most common types are computer monitors as opposed to television screens. * '''Make sure your sound is connected'''. Most computers have a "line out" connection for their audio (which is marked). Your audio/visual input on the television are where the red and white plugs that RCA cables have go.

Converters

If it happens that you can't get a single cable that will connect, because of different inputs and outputs, a converter will be needed.  * VGA to HDMI is one of the more common converters you can find. * Recently, USB to HDMI converters have been made for a much easier connection. Since it's more likely you'll have USB cables already, check your electronics drawer at home before you buy one of these.
