Spring is not only the perfect time for a big clean but a great excuse to mix up your home decor. Make your home sing with the onset of warmer weather by adding plants, trading out knickknacks and adding little touches in brighter colors.
Knickknacks, Candles and Plants
Spring is a time of blooming so why not add a little foliage to your surroundings? Real or fake, plants can be a great way to brighten up a living space. Add some hanging plants to a kitchen or pepper your living room with a few standing ferns or greenery on the windowsill. Floral arrangements in pretty vases can brighten up any room, as does a spring themed wreath on the front door. Add candles in bright colors like pink, blue, yellow, white or orange. Make sure you pick a springy scent like lavender, citrus or linen. Look for brightly colored coasters or those with prints like flowers, polka dots or fleur de lis to subtly add brightness to a room. Porcelain or ceramic knick knacks in the shape of ducks, frogs or flowers can also add the air of a warmer season to any room.
Curtains, Throws, and Pillows
Adjust the feel of a room without changing the whole decor by switching out pillows, throws and even curtains. Look for cotton, silk or sateen pillows in bright spring colors or with floral prints. Try switching out that wool, flannel or fleece throw for a throw or afghan in cotton, cotton jersey or chenille. Choose one with a pop of color or a pastel floral print. Patchwork quilts in yellows, baby blue or pink are also a great pick. Let the sun shine in by switching heavy drapes for sheer or lace curtains in white or pastel colors.
