After years of dreaming of what to do with your yard and patio space, you've finally decided to take the plunge (pun intended) and get a pool or a hot tub spa. Maybe you've got kids and you want a nice pool for them to splash around in during the summer. Or you want an awesome hot tub for your bachelor pad. Whether you are going all out for the most awesome set-up in your neighborhood, or you just want a small recreational addition to your space, shopping for pools and spas can be a little tricky because there are so many options.
Pools
So you've decided on getting a pool. But what kind of pool?
* '''Inflatable pools''': These don't just come in tiny sizes for the kids. There are family sized inflatable pools as well. You won't be doing laps in them, but if you'd like a simple way of cooling off and easy storage for the winter, these are perfect.
* '''Above ground pools''': Much cheaper than their in-ground counterparts, above ground pools can be put together fairly easily. You won't be able to use a diving board or slide because above ground pools often only go as deep as 6 feet, which isn't deep enough to be safe.
* '''In ground pools''': These are more expensive in general, but also will have added costs as a professional with have to install it. But they will give you the space and depth for doing full laps, or installing a diving board.
* Consider the shape when buying. How large is your yard and what is it's dimensions? Pools usually come in round, oval or rectangular shapes.
Spas
So you want an awesome spa to relax in and show off to your friends. Spas come in a variety of different types and and materials.
* '''Hot Tubs''': These are usually made out of wood and usually have a lining, but they don't have contoured seating. They can have water jets included.
* '''Whirlpools''': Whirlpools have the circular motion of water that is calming to the muscles.
** Whirlpools can be made of acrylic or fiberglass. Acrylic lasts longer, and can have that contoured seating so you can fully lounge in the tub.
