The holidays aren't the only time when ornaments can be displayed or even received. There are plenty of holiday neutral ornaments which are suitable for year round use and presentation on an animals, and trinkets from travel. It doesn't have to be a holiday to display personal touches in your home and the title "ornament" shouldn't prove otherwise.
