Who can forget the glory days of
Hip Hop Culture and Origins Hip hop culture began in New York Cityall of which heavily influenced the style of both hip hop's music and its culture. What makes it so fascinating is the fact that the music and the culture ''are'' so intertwined: they do not exist separately but as extensions of one another. The image of hip hop reflects the music and vice versa in such a way that it elevates both to a higher standard of social influence.
Rap
Probably the most notable trademark for hip hop is rapping. Using freestyle rhyming, artists can express a broader monologue in poetic form as opposed to the more structured format of singing.
Hip Hop, R&B, and Soul

International hip hop is often an infusion of several different genresthe two biggest mixes are hip hop and pop, and hip hop and dance. * '''Italian Hip Hop''': ** ''Jovanotti'': An Italian rapper who infuses ska into his hip hop and rap music. He covers philosophical and political topics, which has caused some controversy in the past. ** ''Tiziano Ferro'': As an artist, he is a hip hop/pop hybrid. Tiziano often raps in an uptempo and fun manner, with an occasional ballad on each record. * '''Japanese Hip Hop (Jpop). They've been around only a few years less than the Beastie Boys but didn't reach a larger audience until the last decade. ** ''Hime'': Known for her feminist themes and use of traditional kabuki and bunraku narration in her music, Hime is one solid example of a cultural fusion. Her style is provocative to say the least. ** ''Utada Hikaru'': Not as well known in America as she is in Japan, Utada is considered one of the bestpop, R&B, and hip hop. Her music style is a mix of urban sounds and influences. Additionally, her bilingual lyrics make her accessible overseas.
