We're all prone to noshing during the day. In fact, some dietitians recommend that instead of eating three large meals a day, have a few healthy snacks throughout the day with three mediumfat deli meats. There are also snack bars meant to add nutritional value to your diet, such as Nature Valley Granola bars or South Beach bars, and others will fulfill your dessert cravings to keep you from reaching for that pint of Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup.
Healthy Snacking
The ideal snacking maneuver of our generation involves keeping you satiated without sacrificing a lot of time, effort, or taste. If you can't handle the raw veggie and fruit plan, 94% fat free popcorn plus a handful of dark chocolate chips sprinkled atop will satisfy your sweet tooth without adding to your spare tire. Low fat cheese (such as 2% mozzarella and low-fat cheddar) and avocados are great ways to make your snacking feel more satisfying. For example, a plain rice cake with a slice of lean turkey meat, a slice of tomato, and a few slices of avocado or cheese will make your snack feel more like a feast, but will keep your calorie count low.
