From minor scrapes to major scratches, it's always good to have bandages and bandaging supplies on hand. They are necessary to keep in stock at school, work, home and even in the car as you never know when a boo-boo may need dressing.
Adhesive Bandages
Band aids are the most popular brand of adhesive bandages. Other popular brands include Curad, Target and Nexcare. Adhesive bandages typically consist of a rectangular piece of flexible plastic or fabric with a small padding of gauze in the center and adhesive on either side. You'll find large rectangular adhesive bandages for bigger wounds, all the way down to small rectangular ones to cover little fingers. Round adhesive bandages are great for covering up bee stings or warts. You'll also find latex free versions for those that have allergies. Adhesive bandages come in bacterial or medicated options that have the medicine already on the gauze pad. For adults who don't want to show off their injury, you can purchase clear bandages or liquid bandages. For kids you will find options in bright colors or printed with their favorite cartoon character.
Wrap Bandages and Tape
Another way to dress a cut or scrape is by simply putting a gauze pad over the injury and then keeping it in place with medical tape. You'll also find gauze wraps available, which are great for bandaging sprains or making a make-shift sling. They too can be secured with medical tape. For more serious sprains and strains try an elastic bandage with metal clips. An elastic bandage is made from stretchable fabric and gives great support to the injured area. The most popular brand of elastic bandage is the Ace bandage.
