Miyazaki is an internationally famous director primarily known for his work in anime. His movies not only have broken box office records overseas, but have become cult classics for many.
Movie Highlights
* ''My Neighbor Totoro'': When sisters Satsuki and Mei move into a new home to be near their hospitalized mother, they become friends with the forest spirits living next to them. As a result they discover a magical world with cat-buses, living dust bunnies, and most importantly, hope.

* ''Princess Mononoke'': After saving his village from an evil Boar demon, Prince Ashitaka must journey to seek the forest spirits to heal his cursed arm. He meets Princess Mononoke and the wolf god Moro, who need help stopping an industrial town from destroying the ecosystem.
* ''Spirited Away'': Chihiro and her parents are busy moving to a new town when they take a wrong turn in the road. It leads them to a cursed county fair, where to save her parents, Chihiro must become a servant of the evil witch Yubaba.
* ''Howl's Moving Castle'': Howl is a selfish magician. As penance for his erroneous ways, his soul was bound to a fire spirit, and now he must help a girl who was cursed by the same witch.
* ''Ponyo'': When a goldfish named Ponyo is found by fiveold Sosuke, she begins to fall in love with him and with the idea of being human. Her father, however, wants her to return to the sea.
Manga and TV Highlights
* ''Puss In Boots'': This is the classic tale re-envisioned by Miyazaki with his art direction. He worked on several key factors, including the storyboards, animation, and story ideas, and later made a manga out of it.
* ''NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind'': This comic book series (known as manga in Japanese) is about a princess trying to mediate between warring factions in the face of an environmental apocalypse. The series was later used as influence for a movie with the same title.
