Harry Potter Costumes

J.K. Rowling created an international phenomenon with her book series, ''Harry Potter''. After being made into a successful movie franchise, there really was no limit to what else could be made: toys, games, replica props, and last but not least, costumes. There are so many cool things in the Wizarding World that it was an inevitable occurrence. This year you can dress up like one of your favorite characters from the books.

Kid's Costumes

It is unfortunate to say that there are very few options for a full costume. Because most of the students dress in Hogwarts robes for class or normal everyday clothes for holiday sequences, the choices are predominantly limited to one look. The most outfits you will find are for the students in Gryffindor and Slytherin or villains like Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange, and the Death Eaters. The way to really switch up the look is to include personalized accessories for the characters you're trying to imitate. '''Boys''' '''Girls'''

Adult Costumes

The adult costumes are basically bigger replicas of the kids' versions. If you want to choose different characters, try getting a hat, a pair of gloves, or a mask; that way you've added something unique to the costume.

Accessories

The way you're really going to get attention for your Potter efforts this year is through your accessories. Where the differences in the robes are minute, these touches will make it very clear who you're trying to be. For example, Dumbledore always wears blue and purple hats, and he has a beard with bells. Hermione has specific trinkets that she carries around with her, like her time turner necklace from ''The Prisoner of Azkaban''. Bellatrix has a different Death Eater mask than the others. Things like this will make all the difference as you piece your costume together. '''Character Costume Accessories'''  '''Masks''' Some of the costumes you choose wouldn't look complete without the matching mask. This is especially true for magical beings. Keep that in mind when shopping for your Harry Potter costume. '''Quality Quidditch Supplies''' You can't forget you team pride! Whether you watch pro teams like Kenmare Kestrels or root for one of the Hogwarts Houses, Quidditch accessories are popular for all fans. If you plan to go as a Seeker you'll need the Golden Snitch, while Keepers need helmets to protect them from getting hit while protecting the goals. And, most obviously, if you want people to know you're a Qudditch player, you need the flying broom and robes. '''Ollivander's''' A wizard or witch is hardly magical without a wand. While you might have to look for them somewhere other than Ollivander's in Diagon Alley, there are plenty of cool options for you. The basic models are designed to look like the main characters' wands from the movies. You can get the heroes' onesWand'>Voldemort. '''Hogwarts Dress Code ''' Every school year the Hogwarts students are required to have certain attire. This includes more than their robes, however, as each student must wear the tie that corresponds to his or her House.  Be sure to wear these along with penny loafers, vests, shirts, and robes. Each winter the older students visit Hogsmeade for celebrations, butter-beer, and shopping.  The weather tends to get quite chilly and snowy so the usual attire doesn't always suffice. If it's a tad colder than usual this Halloween you may want to include a scarf with your outfit. There are both deluxe and economy scarves available, and both feature the House colors and stripes. Deluxe scarves also have the House insignia.  '''Weasley's Wizard Wheezes''' Halloween just isn't complete without the candy. This year you can give out some surprises to the kids. If they know anything at all about Harry Potter they'll know what they're in for with this quirky treats. If not, you're about to induce a few giggles with the unsuspectingand maybe a few "eww" responses.
