Halloween Costumes for Toddlers

Toddlers

First Things First
Before making any decisions about Halloween, there are a couple of important questions you should ask yourself.
- Will my child enjoy the event? Many young children will be frightened by the costumes of others and may do better at a planned event, rather than trick-or-treating door to door. Other children may feel more comfortable dressing up at home; keep them involved by allowing them to help pass out the trick or treat candy
. If you are planning to stay in with your child, you may also want to think twice before making that expensive costume purchase.
- Will my child even wear a costume? Toddlers will absolutely need an outfit that is comfortable and easy-to-wear. Those in the middle of potty training
will need something that they can easily get on and off, so do keep this in mind when making a selection. It is best to always have the child try on the costume before wearing it on Halloween; this way, you can anticipate any difficulty that your child may have.
- Will my child be safe? Evaluate whether or not you find the costume safe for your child
to wear. Look for potential problems ahead of time, especially ones like sharp edges, pins, or loose items that could present a safety issue.
